About Me
I am from Sri Lanka the resplendent Island in the Indian ocean. I am 75 years old and am a retired teacher. I was nurtured in an environment where I had the opportunity to watch and observe artistic and creative work of my aunts and the culinary talents of my late mother and my late grandmother. One aunt was a reputedly talented dressmaker, dress designer and a dress making teacher and the other aunt was well experienced in cake decorating, hand embroidery and art and craft work. Hence, as a child I picked up the basics in all these areas of work. Consequently from my girlhood I have been making use of all what I have learnt from home to help many relatives and friends for their parties and functions. As I was fully involved in my career as a teacher I hardly had time to train and excel in any of these fields of work. Nevertheless, I developed a special desire to experiment and innovate new themes in cake decorating. Now for over a period of more than 40 years I have designed and turned out quite a number of cakes. So far I have not done it as a business and have not benefited monetarily. Yet, it has given me a wealth of satisfaction and happiness to know that I have been appreciated and that I have made people happy by my creations. Therefore, I take joy and pride in turning out the very best. I am inspired and encouraged, by my husband and children.
